A church situated right on the High Street of Lincoln. Central’s mission is to be visible signs of the Kingdom of God by being available for ALL people. For this they utilise their people, their premises and their position. They express their faith using their strengths of friendship and hospitality, of Christian nurture and pastoral care and of the Arts and Music.

Skellingthorpe Methodist Church

Sunday Worship 10:30am

This is what you would expect from a traditional Service with Hymns, Prayers, and Bible teaching from visiting Preachers. Holy Communion is included at regular intervals; you will see dates displayed on the Chapel Notice Board. The service concludes with tea and coffee with biscuits in the school hall.

Sunday Cafe Church 10:30am

As the name implies, this occasional service has a cafe atmosphere and is held in the hall. The congregation sit in small groups around tables enjoying tea and coffee throughout the service which includes Hymns, Prayers, Bible teaching and discussion. If you like a more relaxed worship, this may be what you are looking for. This service takes the place of the Sunday worship once every two months.

Activities

Craft Group- First Tuesday in the month 7:30-9:00pm

Meeting monthly on the first Tuesday throughout the year this is a sociable group of like-minded people who enjoy craft and company. There is always a chance to learn something new and current members variously knit and make handmade cards although ideas for different crafts are always welcome. There is a nominal charge which includes a cuppa.

Craft for Charity- Third Tuesday in the month 2:15-3:45pm (Oct-June)

This afternoon group is another chance to get together with like-minded people. As well as an interest in craft the members share a desire to use their skills to help and support local charities. The group has a Christian focus and meetings start with Prayer before continuing with craft and chat. A programme of invited speakers provides further interest and has enabled us to understand more about the charities which we support. A small charge is made to cover heating costs and tea and biscuits.

Coffee Morning- first Saturday in the month 10-11:30 am

Our coffee morning is an opportunity for church and village friends to meet for tea, coffee, cake or even a toasted teacake if you’re lucky! There’s a ‘Bring and Buy’ stall and often home-made jam and marmalade to buy. Proceeds from the morning are divided equally between church funds and charities (not open in January)

Church History:
2014 marks the 120th year we have occupied this current site on the High Street in Skellingthorpe. The chapel, school hall and the original vestry were built by a local builder, Mr Harrison of Lincoln in 1894. The previous chapel, which was situated on Old Chapel Road, had become too small for its expanding congregation.

Today the chapel still thrives despite the smaller membership, with three styles of Sunday worship. The buildings are used by various village organisations virtually on a daily basis.

Above all, the sound of God’s praise has continued to be heard from the Chapels in this village for centuries past and hopefully for millennia to come.

Monk’s Road Methodist Church

Monks Road Methodist Church is a growing congregation, currently exploring its mission in a needy area of Lincoln. Sunday worship includes a mixture of contemporary and traditional songs led by our worship leader.

There is a weekly prayer meeting, Young Spirits each Sunday at 9.30am and monthly men’s and women’s fellowships as well as other social and church events which happen throughout the year.

Our homework club is being launched in the autumn.

Bailgate Methodist Church

Located in the Cathedral Quarter of Lincoln, Bailgate Methodist Church is a growing, family-friendly and busy church.
There are two Sunday services –  the main 10.30am service (during which our children enjoy their own supervised church) and the smaller and more reflective 6pm service.

Our increasingly busy weekday cafe, ‘The Well’, is open to serve our community and visitors to our historic City Centre with free refreshments and practical help where possible, and to ‘be Jesus’ to those who come in.

We run a number of well-attended Bible Study groups throughout the northern part of the city, and our weekly programme encompasses our uniformed scouting groups, parent and toddlers, lunch club and much more.
